The U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) and Uganda teamed up to fight malaria when the initiative first launched across three African countries in 2006. While Uganda ranks among the ten highest malaria burden countries in sub-Saharan Africa and has faced uneven progress against malaria, the country reduced malaria cases by 1.5 million between 2017 and 2018.
